Will ich go away on its own?

I bought a royal gramma the other day and last night i noticed a couple of white spots they looked like salt so i figured ich. I know it is not sand because i have black sand but today when i look at him it seems all the white dots are gone am i going crazy or can ich be kiled without treatment? And the yellow tail damsel i have in there with him shows no signs of ich ay all.

sometimes when introducing new fish they can come down with a slight case of ich from stress that can actually go away on it's own. When I first got my regal tang I had to hospital him twice for ich, and after that he would only get a few spots on his face and body every now and then, but would go away in as quick as a day. Just watch them, if it comes back and progesses to more than a few spots, then put it in the hospital tank. better safe than sorry, cuz once it starts progressing ich is fast!

ok thx cuz at first the spots were all over but now theres like one on his fin and one on his tail hopefully they will just go away.

Disappearing acts with ich is common. However, ich will rarely go away on its own. I would not ignore the situation. The best treatment is hyposalinity. There is info in the FAQ Thread at the top of this forum.

well i looked today and all the ich was gone! but im still going to keep an eye on him to make sure it doesnt come back but if it does ill hypo.

Think of ich as a life threatening case of h... umm nvm, anyways think of ich has an outbreak, you might not always see it, but odds are its still there. You may see it the next time your fish become stressed

yea i just got done reading some more stuff about ich. so ill keep a close eye on him and watch out for any signs of it comeing back.

Cleaner shrimp will pick ich off of the fish but will NOT remove it from the display. As stated, once ich is introduced into a system it will remain there and breed. Ich needs to be removed from the display via either hyposalinity in the display (remove all rocks and inverts first) or by treatment in a QT and allowing the display to run fishless for 4-6 weeks.
