windmill, obviously there's a lot of people in america that like this show. 74million votes in 4 hours. If you think about it, in 2003 there were 121 million votes over the whole election day. so it seems more people care to vote for an american idol than a president...

you're right, ruben and fantasia aren't on the scene, but there are some talent finds coming out of american idol that cannot be dismissed so easily

Anybody wonder what this will do to the girl?
Is she going to be the next

? Some down-home girl suddenly becomes a star and develops that celebrity complex. Next she'll be sleeping with all the other celebrities, going out drinking and "clubbin", getting pregnant, married, makes a --- tape, divorced etc....
