Will moving a crocea clam damage it?

Are you trying to get it off a rock it's attached to? You have to be very careful doing this, because yes, you can damage the clam. How tightly is it attached?

You need to "tickle" it off. Take your finger and slip it down to the foot of the clam and gently mesage it, in a minute or two it will let go.

or you could use an ice cube and try and slide it under the clam and touch it to the foot area. this will cause it to let go/retract and you should be able to remove him. you may have to cut some threads this way as well.

if you have to move it, cut the threads with a razor, but as far away from the clam as you can.. theyll secrete new ones so dont worry, just dont yank it out
