here's is the light, socket and ballast. the light will go on top of the filters top. i will keep algea in there and light will come on 30min before tank lights go off and go off after lights in tank come on. does any one thing it will work. also what algea is good for reducing the trates.

I really don't know how well it will work, but it does not look electricly safe at all. I see a huge chance for electicution, shorts, and fire. Let's hope someone here can help you a little more.

To much water flow.. It LOOKS like an Emperor 400.. which is "rated" at 400gph.. and holds about 2 gallons.. which means the water will be volume will be turn over 200 times an hour!! your looking for it to turn over about 20 times.. (estimate) Plus yeah. it looks like a short waiting to happen.. You can just put the algae in the tank.. some caulpera algae actually looks good.. unless you have a herbivore fish who might it eat all.. but I think you should be ok.. just putting it in the tank.

I think it's an emporer 280. the 400 has 2 bio wheels. but still, be safe and take down that setup before you /or someone gets hurt.

you guys are talking to me alot about this electrical stuff like i didn't know what i'm doing i work with electricity just about every day and i did the electrical work in my 72g bow front, i intalled two 175w mh ballast that i got from the electrical stored and 3 40w bulbs and the ballast came from the electrical store also. the only thing i got from my lfs was the bulbs. all i was asking is if my filter would work as a refuge.

about the switch plate, the reason i don't have one there is because the person who put it up there didn't put the switch on right and it is sticking out if i put a plate there, there would be a big gap, i'm wating for my land lord to fix it before putting a plate there and i'm not fixing it since he's a a$$.
