I had a friend of mine send a White Tail Pygmy Angelfish via FedEX and it was supposed to arrive today...and for some reason the date got changed for tomorrow and thats almost 2 days....what are the chances it will survive ?
Very low.
It has 2 things going for it though. If it gets chilled it's metabolism will slow down and the PH in the bag will be low enough to detoxify the ammonia.
But, if it gets too cold it's metabolism will slow to the point of stopping. The same CO2 that is lowering the PH is also very toxic at high concentrations.
If the fish is strong & healthy when shipped, should be ok. But you will receive a very freaked out fish. Acclimate over 3 or 4 hrs
easily. Remember the water conditions in the fish container will be very poor. So allow a full stream of DT saltwater from hose at start of acclimation. Diluting the old water as quick as possible is a good idea. Also try acclimating the fish in very dim light.
Angel fish can be sensitive to poor acclimation.
Good luck. It will be all about the acclimation process.
the fish was in transit for a whole 2 days and i just got it 2 hours ago and was still alive ! my friend put in 2 cooler packs and everything was wrapped in newspaper and acclimated this guy for a good 2-3 hours and doing well so far going in and out of my LR/fake corals
