125 gal tank , 4"dsb, 30 lbs live rock (to start) ,2 powerheads, a good protien skimmer, and a emperor 400 and of course the other essentials.
will this be enough filtration and circulation? thanks to all!!!

Unless you are going to make a reef tank there really isn't much use for powerheads in a aquarium with sand as the substrate. All thats going to do for you is blow it all around the tank. Powerheads are more for undergravel filters and tanks that need a cheap form of wave movement. You should look into buying a wet/dry filter or a fluidized bed filter. If you are going to do a reef setup you may even benefit from a sump system with caulpera in it. But one emperor 400 is generally speaking not enough, especially if you are getting a 6 foot 125gallon. Generally speaking the filter itself doesn't have enough surface area on the aquarium to manage the filtration effectively.
Otherwise everything else looks good.

You get quite a bit of water movement with a wet/dry. Some wet/drys move 4x as much water as powerheads do. Not to mention your protien skimmer return churns quite a bit of water too. I personally use a Amircle Wet/dry on my 125, but there are a lot of good brands out there. I have never used the Ehiems.

Amiracle Wet/dry, Emperor 400 with carbon media and nitrate sponge, Magnum 350 with micron filter, Red Sea Turbo Berlin skimmer, 1" live sand, four pounds of live rock.
The only problem that I have with my 125g tanks is that the nitrates get up pretty high every couple of weeks or so. However my tanks are full of sloppy sharks and invertebrates. Nitrates being higher than normal isn't a rare thing for me. This setup seems to work exceptionally well.
I also have a 150 gallon with the same things as above only 3" of live sand, 50 pounds of live rock, and a Rainbow Lifeguard fluidized bed filter.

IMO power heads in any tank are a must. I have a wet/dry running on my 125fo and I run 3 power heads. One at the top for water movement, and two at the bottom when you have a aggressive tank with a bunch of messy eaters you need to move all the mess up so the filters can pick it up. JUst my 2 cents. Good luck
