I'm thinking about buying this used aquarium from this guy but from the pics he showed me it has some purpleish stuff on it. The tank comes with sump, filter, lights, live rock, sand, etc..... He said he'd help move and set it up at my place but i wanna make sure the purple stuff will come off the tank. I'd appreciate your help and any suggestions on what to use to clean the tank, here's some pics he sent me..

yeah if you use the razor blade and remove it. But that purple stuff is coraline and good for the tank

But once drained and let dry the coraline while die, so scrape it off with a razor blade. It will grow back as the tank matures, most people just let it cover the back panel and maybe sides of the tank and keep the front panel clean.
If he is sell you all that stuff and you move it quickly enough you may be able to avoid a cycle and keep the coraline alive. Some people add stuff to the tank to make it grow faster. its the point of the product purple up if you have ever seen it at the fish store.
If you put an all black background on the tank it wont look so bad.

doesn't matter where the coralline is, its easily scraped off with a razor blade like the others said. Sumps usually are not very clean at all as they are primarily designed to do all the "dirty" work below the tank so very little is done on or in the tank itself...

Some of it might be on the front, hard to tell from the pics, but the lower stuff is not on the glass, that's algea on the bottom substrate.

.....and I wouldn't worry about the sump. Sumps rarely look clean, as long as they are out of sight. Looking at the bottom of the stand, appears he/she has had a few spills at some point. Looks salty down there, or it could be a piece of plexiglass or something.

I think it is a good deal if you get all that in the picture for 375. But you can shop around you might find a better deal on a larger tank.

You might want to get new sand and use some of the sand he has in that tank, jmo.
