Will this DIY sump work???

Im starting a 55 gallon reef and i want it to have a 20 gallon sump, but since im on a budget i was wondering if i could make one out of these DIY plans-

also if i did use this plan i was wondering if my sump could turn out like this- (see attatchment)
Has anyone done this before or made something similar? If so post your materiales, and pics and estimated cost if possible.

With that setup you will have tons of microbubbles in your display. Your skimmer needs to be placed in the overflow compartment, not in the same compartment as the return pump.

Ok i redid my model, what about this???
Also could i put my heater in the part with the pump bach to the DT?
