Well, I wanted to get this light fixture, but the only place I could find it was online. It's the 48" Satellite 2x65w Power Compact w/ lunar lights which dimentions are 49" x 6" x 3". I have a 50 gallon tank that is 48" long and From what I measured of the space I have in there under the canopy was 49" x 7" x 6". I was just going to see if anyone had a light fixture like that under a canopy and if it fit?

If it doesn't fit you can just remove all the wiring, fans, and lights, reflector, etc. and just screw it to the canopy without the light house casing. Or just look for a retrofit kit.

I have a Current US Satelite fixture and it sticks over my tank just a bit I would say if you are getting a canopy do the retro kits they are cheaper and you can have more wattage for you dollar. Mount everything to the top of the canopy

Also make sure you have enough space as to allow air circulation..otherwise it is a fire hazard. I wanted to get a set of lights before but had a canopy and the fans were on the sides...so I was unable to get it.
good luck

When I wqas looking for lights for my setup I found all of the retro kits much higher in price, so I bought a complete hood setup and stripped and moounted those items, and threw out the housings........I saved over $40 doing it that way......Mounting a complete light assembly that is in a factory enclosure into a hood is not good unless yu have lots of air circulation but its still doable....if good circulation of air is provided.
