So much for the great hunter...my mantis has me trained to make food deliveries. I have a number of small/medium crabs, shrimps, and whelks in her tank, to entice the hunter within...no avail. So I have been skewering the local crabs and today her first taste (that I know of) of Gulf whelk, and offering it to her near her hole of doom...of the delivery window as we like to call it now.
She is quite docile and gentle. The only action you get from her is the burrowing and the soft tap tap on the wooden skewer when feeding time arrives.
Hope fully I can convince her to seek the same foods in the tank; she does like crab though.
Funny that my wife who was against having a "cockroach" in the tank now tells everyone about "princess" and talks about how beautiful the mantis is. She watched her eat and said "how sweet, she is so delicate when she eats".
This mantis breaks the killer shrimp mold, for sure.
