if you have 2, you have more. they are beneficial hitchikers and won't hurt to keep them.

im sorry to rain on your parade howard, but if you are putting this fish into a 12 g nano, the fish will starve to death. a scooter blenny is not a blenny at all. Rather, a member of the mandarin dragonette family which are creatures highly adapted to eating live pods from your rocks and sand. this something that should not be in a tank that is not 6 months mature with at least 40 lbs of LR. so unless you have an established refugium attached to this tank where pods can multiply, the success % for this fish is very low....

Too low.
He was dead this morning. I took him back to the LFS tonight and got half price back. woo.
Everything in my water was perfect they said
BUT:
There Tests:
Trite/Trate = 0
Amm = 0
SG: 1.026
My Tests:
Trite = .05
Trate = 10
Amm = 0-.25
SG = 1.021
So.. something is defintitely wrong there.
I have literally hundreds of copepods in my tank.. and I fed him a little Mysis Shrimp..
I dunno what caused it.. they don't either.
But they had a LOT of dead fish in there tanks today.. which is unusual. (probably about 15)
And most of their clownfishs' body had a white film on them.. Anyone know what this is? I have my eye on a really cool clownfish.. but now am scared to buy it..

first things first, dont buy any fish from that store (at least for now). you recognized some important things that should be adressed. untill you go there and there are no visibly sick or dead fish for a few weeks, then dont buy anything. sorry to hear about your first fish, but its part of the hobby. i would suggest a clown for a better first fish, and get one from an lfs that is clean and healthy. also have them check other levels like ph, calcium, phosphates etc. the only really important one you are missing is pH.

dont trust a LFS to test your water, they are using the cheapest stuff most of the time and not reading it or performing the tests with any accuracy.
get yourself the decent quality ones and test your own water for the essentials.
did you drip acclimate the fish? something you may want to look into if you havent already.
also, it probably was a whole catch of fish that was caught with cyanide or something like that and i would not shop at that LFS again.

Id let all my levels hit zero before buying anythinelse and I prolly wouldnt buy from that store for a while at least
