spelling doesn't bother me. Not on the boards. Well, except tobin's. His drove me batty. (can't say I wouldn't like to see another of his crazy unpunctuated run together posts though).
but what really gets me is how people speak! Its a "L.F.S" on the boards, but its NOT an lfs in real convo!!
Nobody really knows how to say majano, and half of you can't say copepod!! Yup. I like reading mistakes way better than hearing them.
Cept as Tangman said. A resume can't have mistakes. That's just lazy and irresponsible.
But since this topic keeps getting brought up in thread after thread, I'll point out that RUAround has the best approach IMO. He mentions on the actual post that has the mistakes, that mistakes are there. He told me I spelled "ridiculous" wrong twice in my posts. I liked that he told me rather than start a thread about how he hates reading peoples mistakes.
Now I feel I gotta proofread this 5 times before I submit.

Firefox does have a spell check as you are typing, I highly suggest it
agreed, i use firefox and any boxes I type into shows spelling errors, etc.

haha, I'll be talking catch myself starting to say the letter "L" instead of local fish store...but I make sure I fix it..I don't like when people say all those shortcuts and expect me to obviously know what they are...like CUC I never knew until a while ago I finally asked someone who was trying to get advice from me on it. lol

I am sometimes bothered when I cannot understand what a person is asking. But, it dont not bothered me that much. LOL. Just kidding.
I have to remember that some of the people on this message board are young and haven't been taught the usage of some words. I agree with Susan. We need to remember that people are typing fast. They want to say what they have to say. Some do not care how the words are formed in writing.

I have to say this about that.English is a very complicated language. To speak proper English is hard enough, but to write in a clear manner is another issue.I am a Union Carpenter ,i do not write reports or have to fill out resumes , but i can tell you this .Absolutely everyone i speak to on my jobs understands me crystal clear. This is a forum for saltwater hobbyist ,not the book of the month club,or a course in English literature.
Can we find something else to complain about? How about something important, like why Wendy's has a square burger and a round bun ,but have a square biscuit and a round sausage patty for breakfast?

That's the problem Matt, it does make it hard to read.
My personal favorite is 'definate' and its derivative, definately.
I'm actually surprised that Microsoft hasn't come up with a spellchecker for text boxes. It would be simple to integrated into IE, and if it works automatically like the one in Word, it would eliminate a significant portion of mistakes.
Mozilla has an automatic spell check for text boxes.

Or if I say "jumbo shrimp". Am I referring to a "large" small shrimp or a "small" large shrimp.
Or why is toilet paper perforated into such tiny sheets. I mean, can any of you really wipe with just a single sheet?

When I post, I almost always say sorry for my spelling and grammer, I know I am one of those people who should go back to school. Sorry again.

Use Firefox. It's got a spell checker built in for text fields.
