I was a stay at home mom and worked from home, so the fish were no problem. Suddenly, and I really mean suddenly I am employed at what I thought was going to be a part time job and it is going to be more hours than I thought. That's fine, my question after all that babbling is....when you have fish (like a puffer) that needs to be fed 3 times a day....what are the times you feed? How do you set the schedule. I go to work at 8 and get home between 4-5. Trying to figure out how to feed so everyone is happy and 'full'.

I wouldn't recommend feeding anything three times a day, I think that is a bit much. I have two puffers and they are fed once a day. I drop a single 3.5oz cube of mysis, krill, plankton, squid, whatever and let them have at it. I feed them every night around 7:30 or 8:00. Been doing this for four years and they're a good size and are very healthy.

You don't thaw the food first?

I have a Dogface and Porcupine, I feed them once a day at most! You should be more then fine with once a day

Larger predatory puffers as well as other predatory fish in general, are commonly only fed a few times a week let alone multiple times a day. This is a lot of food to feed, IMO. When I think of fish that need to be fed multiple times a day, I think seahorses and maybe a few others (certain anthias or something).

Great, thanks. I had done a search and it said to feed them 3 times a day.....I don't recall how old the posts were. Good info, thanks.....Oh, if I drop the cube in it just floats....is that what yours dose farslayer? He won't go to the top....he's a bashful boy. lol

I'd always heard to not feed frozen food until after it had thawed. I feed about a cube/day, but thawed it doesn't float.
Can anyone confirm that all frozen food needs to be thawed first?

That's why I target feed him. Funny, when he see's the turkey baster, he is right there. It earned him the ......oh so original name...'Turk'. :jumping:

ive always thawed my food out, if not it gets caught on the over flow box, and also I add zoe and zocon to my food, to keep the fish more healthy.
