worm id

i dont have any pictures but i think it was a bristle worm. it was red and white the inside was red and it had like white spikes. what is it???

Sounds like a bristle worm. In small numbers they are not a problem.

I just got rid of one yesterday because it was huuuuuge. >< They creep me out.

I have a MASSIVE one. It is harmless, other than knocking over my frag stands. It eats detritus and stirs the sand better than anything you can buy to stir the sand. They do get HUGE! Mine, when last seen, was 6-7" shrunk up and well over 12" stretched out. Absolutely beatiful when they get big enough for the red and white to be bright. I've read a few places not to let the bristles touch you. They are supposed to be very painful.

Two things Cran: 1) OUCH! 2) That was a huge bristleworm.

Ya, it was one of big ole blue suckers.... and luckily for me it was my husband's finger. I made him hold it there until I got the camera.
They come out pretty easy with vinegar.
