Worm on new piece I bought

Today I purchased a hairy mushroom that is attached to a 2 lb piece of rock. I bought this from a fellow reefer. Prior to getting ready to place it in my tank I dipped it in Seachem reef dip. While soaking I noticed a long skinny reddish colored worm working it's way from one of the holes in the rock. Could not get a pic but the best I can describe it as A very flexible red toothpic that moved back into the hole extremely fast. I have placed the rock in a bag of tank water for now. Any ideas what it may be? Harmful or not?

Highly unlikely it is harmful in any way. HIGHLY unlikely, IMO. But the description doesn't narrow it down much further than "a worm" I'm afraid. Probably a polychaete (bristleworm) but most are beneficial.

Thanks for the re-assurance guys. I continued researching and although I only got a quick look at it, I do believe it is a bristle worm. The rock is in and the hairy mushroom is looking great thus far.
