worms?

I got some live rock from my friend yesterday to put in my tank, the worms have holes in the live rock they go in and out of. Worms are a white color. Is this a good thing or bad thing? Ill post some pics when I get home later.
Good or Bad?

Do the worms have hard tubes that they retreat into?
Are they long and stringy like a piece of thread?
Do they have a bunch of tentacles like spaghetti?
How thick are they?
Do they secrete spider-web kind of strands?

the worms are stringy with a sand/coral coat over them, its like the sand/coral is sticking to there body.
the white color in them is like a clear silcone with a shade of white in it. im gonna take some of them out and place the worms on a dark cloth of some sort so u can see them.

Looks to me like spionids...I have several in my tank!
Spionids polychaete
Spionids are a family of small, thin polychaete worms that build their tubes from sand and other small particles. The Spionids pictured have two feeder tentacles that they stretch out to find food. They are beneficial scavengers that feed on detritus and small organic particles.
