Hey everybody .. my new Harlequin that I've had about a week has lots of ich ... it's pretty bad .. I'm worried about him .. he's in my 65 Gallon FOWLR .. he's about 3.5 inches and he's housed with my Diamond Goby, my Juvenile Blue Hippo Surgeonfish, a Pair of Snowflake Eels .. and my Fuzzy Dwarf Lion .. what do I do besides adding chemicals and things .. can I like raise or lower the temp or the pH or something? .. :help:

well since no other responses you can try some reef safe products like Kents RXP (which works well for me), stop parasite or kick ich. Malachite Green wont kill corals and can be put in a display tank if not abused (although it may not say so on the label). It may turn stuff temperarily green (including corals but you dont have any). Formulin and copper are just about garaunteed to kill ich but cant be used in a display tank. they will kill just about everything but the fish and fish too if abused. still if you use them no host (fish) should be in the display tank for 4-8wks because ich may still be there to greet the newly returned and cured fish just to give it ich again. Another consideration is a UV sterilizer. It wont do anything for fish that have it but it can reduce the chances of fish catching it again once the tank and/or fish have been treated.

My cleaner shrimp (I guess I am lucky) takes care of all my fish when there is an ich issue. After you have taken care of this bout of ich you may think about purchasing one. They are great at keeping the fish clean and are sooooo cute. They will clean your hand when you put it in the tank. They are my favorites in my tank.

I would get a pair like I have in my 210 reef but in my 65 gallon I have a pair of snowflake moray's .. and I'm pretty sure they would eat a shrimp if I put one in there .. but yeah .. I like my shrimp I have in my 210 .. but mine hasn't cleaned my hand yet .. although I've heard of other people's shrimp doing the same thing .. right now in my 210 I have 2 red fire shrimp, a pair of coralbanded shrimp .. and that pair of cleaners .. it's cool to see all of them come out at night
