Mine is eating but he swims really weird ..Most of the time it swims with some of his fins out of the water. He spends most of it's time near the top of the tank...Is this normal??

Just a comment Cartman...there are many legitimate reasons for quitting the hobby.....money issues, time issues, moving, etc.
You are young...quitting is an easy habbit to fall-in but difficult to change. There is nothing wrong with making mistakes in this hobby....we all have
I really believe you did nothing wrong...the animal was sick or in a weakened state when you purchased it. . Follow the advice I gave you in the other thread regarding selection of animals for your system.
He may pull through.....I have had fish that I thought would NEVER make it and yet they did. If all your water parameters are in check there is really very little you can do....accept possibly moving him to a QT tank ...but he may not survive the move.
Since you did not have him in QT.....leave him be and perhaps tomorrow he will pull through for you.
I would return him should he not make it...but the lfs may not warranty their fish. In which case you are at the mercy of the manager and/or owner as to if they will make an exception

hey cart i had a yellow tang do the same thing and all my water was perfect i did a lil reading to find out the reason he was swimming funny and acting crazy was because he had popeye and he couldnt see so he didnt eat and he was sssooooo stressed cuz the bright light was hurting his eyes when i figured it out it was to late you have to take him out of the tank and treat him if it happens again just my 2 cents hope it helps (in the future)

I can sympathize with you about losing a favorite fish.I recently lost my sting raynot do to ilness or agresiveness but to its housing design he was just a baby and i had him housed in my refuge my water level rose from maladjusted return and he swam over the center column right into my filter media I found him dried up.this was just 3 days ago I was so upset I call hubby all in tears and stated im tired of my losing the best fish ready to sell all 5 tanks.I dont but my fish online for the reason I have to see it up close before I purchase to make sure they are healthy.you just have to search for a LFS that you can be happy with .I have many close to my home .but I will drive 45 away to the best I have found and I only use them now.don't throw away something you truly enjoy doing .LFS do a lot of trade in fish that can no longer be housed in someons tank get returned. but these are healthy fully adjusted to captive living.I have personally found these to be the best fish to buy.if we all gave up due to a few losses this hobby would cease to exist.for some species this is probably not a bad thing.hint also for purchasing at LFS frequent them aften keep a close eye on the stock and inventory .get to know them on a more personal note.if an impulse to buy a certain fish they have comes up and its newly aquired I place a deposit on the fish and have them hold for 2 weeks sometimes I will pay in full but still leave the fish for 2 weeks to make sure its properly acclimated and healthy before returning home with it.a good LFS will tolerate this from a repete client thus if the fish does not survive aclimation the money is returned for in store credit .

dude I lost over 3000 in fish to sickness and disease before I learned what I was doing wrong. It takes TIME and PATIENCE.
