Thank you for your help in advance, I am getting a 100gal. and I am wanting to get a lot of beautiful fish, however my wife and I are both compiling a list. I am looking on here and then she is, then through some research we will see what will work and what wont. I do know that clownfish, blue hippo tang and some kind of puffer will be wanted in the tank but the quantity is unknown. I was wondering if someone out there would be able to give me a list of some that they have in their tank and I can see if we like them or not. I have gone through the list on here a few times and I just want all of it, lol. Being realistic I can't do that as you know. I am wanting some corals and inverts as well but not sure about what goes with what. Lastely I don't want to get a fish that is going to kill everything in the tank off. Thanks for your help again.

My advice is to not get the puffer. They can be aggressive and will eat inverts and smaller fish. I had a porcupine puffer eat all my inverts and a picasso trigger. If you want the clowns and inverts I would stick to smaller more colorful fish. You could do firefish and bangi cardinals, they are neet fish and you can couple them and maybe get babies! If you want starfish and other inverts then stay away from triggers and puffers IMO. good luck!

so would you say that a Blue Hippo Tang would work in the tank? I mean I want a good amount of fish and invert's and all that I just don't want a fish to kill my reef and the other way around. I am asking a lot of question's cause I am very eager to get this thing started and I just want a beautiful tank that has all my friends astonished.

if your gonna keep corals than you can only keep "reef safe" fish and inverts. also you should NOT have "alot" of fish unless there all small and stay small. Tangs and Large Angels get dinner plate big. Puffers, Triggers, Groupers, & Octopi are also out as most of them aren't reef safe and get VERY big.
fish should be added slowly over time and your list should be pre determined so you can add them in the proper order.
im bored so i'll give you a couple of lists that wont overstock your tank and will add beauty and interest.
first of all you'll need atleast 75 lbs of live rock and about 2 to 3 inches of line sand or seeded live sand. after your cycle you'll add a clean up crew or CUC. to start i would add 10 turbo or astria snails, a few nassarius snails, a cleaner shrimp ( you will love this shrimp as much as any fish they are very social and friendly) personally i dont like hermit crabs they tend to eat snails but its your choice. a more interesting choice would be a sally light foot crab or an arrow crab. a fire shrimp or a coral banded shrimp. a brittle star or a serpent star. ( one of each ) that should do to start and you can always add more later.
you should have a list of what fish you want and it what order your going to add them. research quarentine tanks and drip aclimation. i would start with a small school of easy and cheap fish. blue/green chromis are perfect but smaller anthias and the smaller clowns are fine too. 3 to 7 chromis or anthias are beautiful in a school and 3 small clowns together are funny to watch especially with a large anemone to play in. one of these three options is a no brainer to any starter reef.
next would be a small reef safe angel like a flame or coral beauty or if you dont already have clowns maybe one or two of the larger clowns like maroon and gold or even tomato clowns. dont mix clown species.
psuedo chromis, dotty backs, reef safe wrasses like the six line, blenny's, gobies would go in next. pick only 1 or 2 total and research what is compatable.
lastly would be 1 or 2 juvi tangs depending on my bio load. if you want 2 tangs then scale down your list to 8 or 9 total fish including the tangs.
if keeping 2 tangs get them small and of different genus/body types. a blue morpho and a yellow is fine. but a yellow and a purple might not work.

i agree with everything said above. I would advise you though to make sure and take it slow. Very slow. Your tank may seem large now but once you start adding rock and fish you will see that it all of a sudden seems much smaller. Especially when you start taking into account the adult size of each fish you add and their requirements. If you go too fast you may succeed but most likely the tank will fail. So, please... take it slow. I would like to see you succeed.

We're not allowed to post competitors websites on here. If you google "reef safe fish" a lot of good sites do come up.
I also agree that you can't have a puffer in a reef.
Here's what I would add (since I'm home sick and have the time):
3 Anthias or Cardinalfish (Cardinals are easier)
2 Clownfish (I personally like Ocellaris, Maroons are my favorite, but are far more aggressive) *start with the clownfish, they're hardier and easy to care for*
1 dwarf angel (add it last) I love my Coral Beauty, but she's mean, she was one of the first fish I added and now I have issues with her bullying fish in my tank
1 Hippo Tang (do not buy a baby, they're harder to take care of. Try to get one that is mid-size)
1 Diamond Goby
1 Purple Firefish or Royal Gramma
1 Midas Blenny *YouTube this fish, they're full of personality*
If you want more fish, you can always add some Chromis, I personally like the Blue Reef Chromis.
I would not add any large Angel, especially if you're set on the Hippo Tang.
2 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
5 Nassarius Snails
5 Astrea Snails
5 Trochus Snails
5 Cerith Snails
*I don't like Turbo snails in a reef because they knock over corals*
10 Mexican Reef Hermits (they stay smaller and are less likely to kill your snails than some of the bigger hermits like scarlets and blue knuckles)
If you have cleaner shrimp, stay away from the arrow crab. It will eat it eventually
I highly advise against pseudochromis because many are shrimp eaters. I also advise against the sixline wrasse, if you look through threads on here, many people who have them call the the "fish from hell". They're beautiful, but very aggressive. I had one and will NEVER own another wrasse again because of the havoc he caused in my tank, and he was a baby.

no angel is reef safe its hit or miss. some people can have them no problems others cant. otherwise yes good info.

I was talking with another fish enthusist and he said that once my tank is cycled I could pretty much with live rock, add anything I want right away. However I hear people say not to do that and go a few at a time. I was just wondering your take.

i have an arrow and a cleaner, no problems here

You can add most off of my list in any order that you want. but if you decide on the dwarf angel, add that last...
Try to add more peaceful fish first, which is mainly what I listed and then add the most aggressive last, which in my case would be a dwarf angel. I'd start with clowns, or chromis since they're so hardy.
