Would LR be needed for this nano?

I was planning on getting LR but was wondering if I NEEDED it. Basically I am setting up a 20 gal w/an eclipse 2 hood (so it has the wet/dry bio wheel deal). Would that be enough biological filtration for 2 perc clowns, a star fish, and then about 10 crabs? Also I am adding some sand to the bottom too...I guess I could buy a rock or two to help make the sand live. But would I be ok even without that?

You really don't have to have Live Rock but there a ton of benefits.
-Gives fish places to hide making them much more comfterable
-Fills the tank and makes it look nice.
-Gives the options of corals.
-Cleans water
If money is an issue get small amounts at a time. I think you should ditch the bio-wheel and go for around 25 lb of LR.

be careful with cheap live rock, i puchased some cheap live rock that had some undesireables that may have been avoided with the premium LR

i currently have 50 lbs of LR in my 20 gallon that i bought for $3.00 per pound shipped....and it was the best rock iv ever seen.... better then all the LFS iv even been to and it was COVERED in coraline growth...i also have ZERO nitate levels and i add tap water

Dont skip the live rock. That is one of the most important things in a reef tank period. Take the bio wheel off. Use live rock and powerheads and live sand. Good luck

Sorry I know this is an old post but I live in Ft. C too. Just wondering cuz I know the tap h2o is great here but I was wondering about that comment, do you mean you don't have to use any stuff to remove the chlorine and such? I was thinking of getting an r/o/di but if that's true then it sounds like it might be a waste of time.

Still get a RO unit. Chlorine = toxic to fish. I beleive chlorine evaperates pretty quick, however i would not recomend using water with chlorine in it

well first if you want a starfish ( i think thats what i read) you would need a lot of live rock and a big tank. and no live rock means...
