would this fit over a 30" long tank with the proper mounting legs?

I would also like to know if this fits on a 29 gallon, I currently have a current 130w PC which has "sliding" legs so it adjusts to pretty much anything 30 inches or below... Anyone know if these have similar legs?

the hood is 33" just as the picture states, it will overhang your tank and you will not be able to mount it with the legs. You will have to hang it from overhead. I have a similar unit on a 36" wide tank and it fits it perfrectly, I think they make a 24" version of this same light, I think that setup would look better.
