My local lfs has a hagen t5ho 2x54w retrofit kit. comes with everything besides bulbs ad reflectors. If i hooked up 24 inch bulbs instead of 48 inch bulbs, would it be the same as over driving them? Would they even work?

Come on, someone has to know. What about taking a 96w pc ballst and putting a 40w bulb in it?
