not sure where they went but i just got two small orange ricordia shrooms (size of an eraser head) 5 days ago... this moring i wake up and their both gone....two nights before when the lights where off i could see that they were both puffed up and elongated....is it possible that they were not happy with something and they dicided to reloacted which more than likely ended up in certain death???? do they do this or is it something else??

Mushrooms will often detach and leave the rock that they were attached to, when conditions are not fitting the mushrooms needs. You may want to search around the tank with a flashlight and try to find the mushrooms. Mushrooms will also detach from their rock to colonize another area.
Also, could you please list your inhabitants?

yeah i looked for 3 hours straight even took out the media in the filter but no luck...i think their back behind 60 lbs of LR in the back of the tank next to the other dead regular shroom that detached about 3 months ago and probly ended up back there....for inhabitants i have hermits, snails, emeralds, those odd crabs that have fans that sift the water, pom pom, clown and 6-line, peppermint, cleaner and blood shrimp..... and some corals that were not near the ricordias..... im not doing so good with mushrooms

Change the direction or flow on your power heads. Almost any shroom will detach if motivated enough. Not much current is needed to motivate these guys. As soon as the water starts flowing under the shroom, your usually screwed, that is if you can't find it. It should grow wherever it lands. The foot left behind should grow too. If you redirect your powerheads, it might just blow your ricordias out from behind the rock.

how hardy are shrooms??? meaning if they are back there and their either on a rock or in sand with very little light and high water flow will they grow???.....i did try the power head trick but the ricoridas are so small...like the size of a pencil head eraser.... and the other shroom i lost 3 months ago was about 1" round.... i dont really think it was to much flow that got them....they were in a very low flow area..... could it be too much light???? i had them 3/4 the way up the tank under 130 watts PC on a 20 gallon.... but i thought ricordias liked some what more light than most shrooms???

wow you have 60lbs of lr in a 20... i fragged some blue mushrooms once and i quess they didnt like where i put them because one day i looked in and they were gone.. i thought that was it but about a month later i noticed something behind my rock, i cleared away a spot and low and behold it was my mushrooms growing like crazy. so i would say they most likely will survive.. hth:)
