can aggressive non reef safe wrasse be kept (happily) in tanks that are bare bottom?
i know they like to "tuck in" at night and bury themselves in the sand bed.
anyone keep aggressive wrasse in a bare bottom tank with no problems? ie lunar, paddlefin etc.

The ' PocketExpert Guide ' says that Thalassoma spp. do not bury in sand...
IMO, they would do much better with a substrate that could supply natural foods for them though.

oh very good :)
my paddlefin plasters himself inbetween two silk plant leaves at night. he does wake up sometimes in the morning with sand dust all over him, but i havent seen what exactly he is doing with the sand. he could be flashing for crustations.
id really like to go bare bottom with a new tank im setting up, it just seems so much easier, not as pretty as sand tho :(
