Looking to buy a reasonably priced 48" t-5 setup (not retro) for my 55. Prefer to stay between $150-$200. PM me if you've got something.
I got bad advice from a few people on PC's being okay for condi's. Needless to say I'm kind of in a hurry to put the T-5's up so I don't kill them.

Bump. I've realized that I won't find a decent T5 fixture for $150-$200.
Let me know if you have any T5 fixture - preferably a TEK or other fixture with individual reflectors.
PM me with price and pics.
Thanks.

I forgot to mention I was looking for a 6X54 or 4X54 with individual reflectors.

How many watts is your PC's? I have successfully kept condi's and many others with my 4x 65 watt PC's. How's your parameters?

I just have regular compact fluorescents right now. 3X32 for a total of 96 watts. I think they need a lot more light plus I'd like to add some corals.

How long have you been keeping condi's with your PC?Are all your bulbs 10,000k's or actinic mix?Sounds like the same setup i have but didn't want to try it if it was going to die off.I also read here that you need high lighting.

lol, you won't find a t5 fixture with individual reflectors for your price range at all.
The only thing I suggest for any anemone or any reef, is metal halides. And you definately won't find one in your price range. You can, however find a 1x175 watt metal halide ballast, and fixture (not including bulb) for about $110. The bulbs are about $60 each.
For a 55 gallon, you could easily go with 2x175 watt 10,000k metal halides. Then you can upgrade to a larger tank in the future. Also, you can keep your anemone's longer, given proper water quality.

I actually purchased a TEK 6X54 from another member on this site and got a great deal. However, I might be interested in your other TEK fixture if you'll ship. I assume that it is the 4X54 fixture? Can you please pm or email me pics?
Thanks.

Sorry Madmax, I forgot I posted on this thread. Anyways my light is 10000k and actinic mix, 260 watts. I've had a couple of Condi's, One met his demise from a MJ Mod accident, had him for a couple of months, really the main or favorite one I've had for almost a year and the amount of light seems to be fine. He moves occasionally and that I think is because of me changing flow. Water quality seems to be the most important thing with light secondary. Don't get me wrong, light is very important but I have been successful with PC's all the while concentrating on water quality.

I've had the condi's for a month or more on regular CF's (92 Watts). I think they'll thrive better under the new TEK fixture that I got today though. Even when maintaining pristine parameters, the light I think is crucial, hence the reason for my upgrade.
