So i've been on a vacation with my aunt and cousin for the past week. My cousin is 10 years old. We went to denver today and its one room with one tv. MY cousin loves cartoon network and has the tv on all the time and I figure what the heck ill go on the laptop (this is like right now while im in bed during the day im always doing something) I catch a glimpse of the shows he watches every now and then. All I have to say is WHAT THE HELL are kids watching? I remember when I was a kid there were at least quality shows that taught a lesson (hey arnold, doug ect.) I think the artist and the people who come up with the ideas for the shows now are on drugs or something. I got a headache just listening to it. What do you think has happend to the quality of our cartons and is it causing future generations to be stupid?

Crapimation is what I like to call it . It seams like all the new cartoons are using that style of art work .

Ditto on Tom & Jerry. Luckly my 4 year old loves them, & it gives me an excuse to still watchem.

I have 5 & 6 year old brothers they watch all the stupid shows by far the worst is "The Adventures of Flapjack"
on cartoon network. Cartoon Network,Nick, and Disney all used to have good shows not anymore tho.

The only time I watch Cartoon Network is for adult swim (family guy, robot chicken)
The only time I watch nick is for Drake and Josh
Disney still has pretty good shows

yeah, disneys still in it somewhat, at least they still teach lessons and don't use japanese art work no matter how stupid it is. I recently watched "chowder" on nick with my little cousins. MY GOSH, it was practically begging kids to only ever eat sweets and be lazy. It was seriously physically painful to watch.

Im well satisfied that the decline in cartoons started with SpongeBob Square Pants...
Thats the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Japanimation is terrible with 2 exceptions(Ninja Scroll, Akira)
Tom and Jerry, great cartoons what else to say.
Smurfs. finally making a smurf movie this or next year.
Bugs Bunny.. might be the best cartoon icon of all time(mickey is kinda lame and I hate the voice)
And I am 25... This is JMO

Tom & Jerry, Bugs, Daffy, Porky are the classics
After that, Thundercats, Transformers, Voltron, Silverhawks, GI Joe.
The stuff out there today is just crap

This thread makes me laugh. I bet your grandparents felt the same way about Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny. A couple other funny anecdotes:
Transformers, Thundercats, etc... all based on Anime.
Jetsons, Flintstones were adult themed cartoons. The Simpsons and South Park of their day.
All the 'classic' cartoons were about wild animals(and a few humans/aliens) doing freakishly violent things to each other. Its a bit amusing that this what is considered 'good cartoons' by some older folks these days.
FWIW though, Samurai Jack is probably my favorite 'kids' cartoon
