XBOX 360. Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War???

The Gears of War 2 post by MiaHeatLvr inspired me to start a poll on the best gaming series for Xbox 360 thus far.
This topic is highly debatable as Halo has worn the crown in the past, but I feel it has been stripped and half given to the Call of Duty series and the other half to Gears of War series.
Personally, I liked Gears of War the best for single person play, graphics, sound, and originality, but I liked Call of Duty 4 the best for online multiplayer play. I quickly sold my Halo 3 game once COD4 came out!
Any others out there would like to share...

It was and always will be Halo. The single player isn't best, but online multiplayer is on another level. I really like COD too, but just only having one person per xbox online is totally beyond retarded. I do have a 50" TV, at least lemme freaking use it.

I don't see how it's even fair to give half of Halo's crown to Gears, which isn't even a series yet...

Yeah, I see what you're saying about Gears not being a series, but the original took off fast and just the previews of Gears of War 2 alone make it a series.

I really liked Halo 3 online when it came out, especially going back through to get the skulls in order to have the "special" head, but once COD4 came out, I would play Halo 3 online and start comparing it to COD4 online. To me, there was no comparison. The way COD4 ranks you up, unlocks classes and guns as you rank up, is far better than Halo 3.

That's the exactly why I didn't like COD as much. It was a bit 'too technical' in that you need certain things to do stuff. Where as in Halo, it falls back squarely onto the player's skill. If you're good, knew what people typically do, how they run/hide, learn how to take proper cover, etc, you could take out a lvl 45 Brigadier, easy. It was a level playing field, so to speak. No "bam, WTF was that? Oh, that high rank with that retarded gun, nice....."

I know it's real hard to convince original Halo fans to change to "the dark side". It was easier for me because I never played the original Halo until after acquiring Halo 3 (had PS2, not Xbox). I just prefer the realism of COD4 over Halo. I much prefer the sta--ing of the knife (COD4), or the use of the chainsaw (Gears), over the punching (Halo) in close quarter combat as well.
I know Gears of War isn't "realistic" maybe futuristic (j/k), but I love the hunched-over running style, along with camera movement, and the covering behind walls, much better than the tea-ba--ing style of Halo.

I know this is HIGHLY debatable and that's what I want to see.

Oh, one other thing that is frustrating and not very fun to play against in my mind with Halo online, is you get the one or two individuals who would rather grab the cloaking device, grab the sword or hammer, and wait around the corner all game waiting for others to come and grab the sword or hammer.
I mean come one, how much fun is that???

Then it's all about learning how to deal with them. Read your radar, see where they're hiding, etc. A nice grenade toss will flush them out. A shotgun will stop a sword in it's tracks and a guy with a hammer should really never get close enough.
The intense frantic-frenzy crazyness of Halo is what does it for me. Where you have to make game changing decisions in the blink of an eye.
Gears for me, just played a bit 'too-slow.' Like, alright I killed this guy, who's next, oh, okay, that guy, lemme go try and hunt him down.
I probably would really like COD if me and buddies could play online together. I really don't play shooters too much by myself. I originally was just into driving games. Probably have over 20 driving games for xbox (og). Then one day my roommate introduced me to Halo. Wow I was terrible, but stuck with it. The whole summer before Halo 2 released, just played Halo and got better. 4 player COD is pretty sweet on that one map with all the metal containers, though it's really just mimicing Halo, so....

A couple months ago I would have said Call of Duty 4, but I'm playing Halo again and it's so much more fun than Call of Duty 4.

Call of duty is so much better. you actually use diferent guns to fit how you play the game. If you run around alot, or if you hide more, like to sneak, or snipe. In halo, the 2 main guns are the BR and the starter gun. If you get into a gun fight with someone on halo, the only way to win it is to be the first person to start shooting, unless you have the rocket launcher or shotgun.
Halo gets extremely boring, COD4 is so much more realistic, and many more guns and customizations than halo, where you only have the BR, shotgun, starter machine gun, sniper rifle, needler, and brute shot. None with any customizations. its not constant shooting and explosions going off like halo, and what makes it better is that its not constant 12 year olds screaming and giggling into the mike like on halo!!!!!!!

IMO no compariso, COD$ beats the pants off master chief anyday.

The starter guns on COD4 are often the most used by higher level people (the MP5, M16) I use the MP5 almost exclusively. There are no guns that you earn later on that are any more powerful than the m16 or MP5, you just get a better scope, or better perks.
There are plenty of people on prestige mode that kick butt with stock everything, so thats based solely on their skill of the game, not the equipment.

What? It's all about tactics in Halo. Learning the best positions to take, learning not to be an idiot and just run up the middle, if you are shot first, learning how to take cover to recharge, or get close enough for a melee blow or a perfectly placed, last ditch effort grenade. The new Bubble Shields, Regenerators, and Power Drains just add that much more.
There's also no way on Earth you can't tell me you didn't thoroughly enjoyed a good game of Rocket Race? Halo's vehicles just take it up that many notches.

I HATE rocket race!!! there is no way to get around a corner to recharge if your not directly next to a corner. Not listening to the 12 year olds scream for hours in my ear is worth not playing halo.

What are you doing out in the open without a Bubble Shield? You know it is pretty easy to mute those kids

I know, but i still have to hear them before and after the game. And when i have more than one person playing at my house, it still comes through the speakers when i mute people.
Theres not always a bubble shield available though, and plus, you cant really hide in halo like in COD4, you can walk on top of someone on COD4 and not see them. I tried to get a SWF 360 tournament going, but only got 3 people into it! haha.

i have to agree with alex. the only skill involved in halo is timing your jump perfectly when you run up to shoot someone. COD has much more tactics to it.
also, the perks/upgrades arent even useful. i will admit that when i first did prestige i was disappointed to lose my weapons, but then i realized how good the mp5 and m16 are. now im like lvl 46, still prestige 1 and use basic guns.
as for perks, the only one i use that isnt basic is martydom, which is lvl 10 or something.
bottom line, cod4 is definitly the more tactical game, and has far less 10 year olds who are excited by being able to swear all they want

Don't forget Frag Grenades x3. When I prestige, I always can't wait to level up in order to get this perk back.
You are right about the jumping in Halo. It's mostly about timing your jumps or being the first one (in the server's "eyes") to press the punch button. Lame!!!!!
It also took me the first time to prestige to realize how valuable the M16 is. Now that's basically all I'll play with.

Ive been at lvl 55 for weeks, and dont want to prestige. IT wouldnt make that much of a difference though, because i only use the MP5 anyway.....Just give me the red dot sight (which is EXTREMELY easy to get, just 25 kills with a certain weapon.) I have been using the pistol a whole lot more now, 2-3 good shots and their down. I always pull it out walking into a room. the perks are not that useful, martydom gets one person about every 2 games, and last stand hardly ever works, unless your playing with a new guy or an idiot!!!
I LOVE COD4
My names UH Coogs 5 for anyone that likes tactical ha..r,d-cor..,e or regular tactical! Iwould love to chat about fish, rather than useless rambling and me ragging on people who think their amazing!!!

Halo is so damn lame!!! Shouldnt even buy that fake futrisitc piece of crap! Dnt havee XBOX anymore, but Halo was my worst purchase.
COD4 is on a league of its own. No other game even compares to it esp, when it comes to online. Everything is really a disappointment compared to it. N had one of the best single player experiences on that game! COD4 is on top of the world!!!
