Just an update, how my xenia looks now as well as a before and after picture of my green and red zoos...
1. Xenia today
2. Zoos when I first got them
3. Zoos now (notice the red zoos are no longer open but the green zoos have spread. any ideas how to bring back the reds?)

Thanks guys!! I now know why people say Xenia grows like weeds!!! I am trying to get my clownfish to take up residence in my Xenia by putting a picture of clowns in Xenia on the tank. (I heard it works but so far so success)
I am sad about the red zoos closing up, I purchased this frag mostly because of the reds. Could it be the greens are killing them or maybe they need more light then the greens?
Oh, here is a picture of my xenia when I first got it, just to give an idea...

those are looking great, sorry your reds closed up, they look awesome int he first pic....maybe try putting em ona new rock or somewhere that has different lighting, maybe diff flow...could be tons of things...ya know...just try diff spots, but give em time in a spot since movin em may take them time to open sometimes.

try an iodine bath. Put them in a container with afew pints or so of water and a capful of iodine (marine iodine) for about 5 mins. Then I brushed the closed polops with a very soft toothbrush. That worked for me, my reds opened within hrs

I may try this, a quick question though... I have Kent Marine Concentrated Iodine. Would this work for an iodine bath??
For now I think I will just try moving the zoos until I know if this is the right kind of Iodine..

Yes, it pulses and the time was approx 1 and a half months between pic 2 & 3.

Thanks again! I did a soak for about 20 minutes in a small container. I wasn't sure how much iodine to add so I just used a few drops. I am kind of nervous about brushing them with a toothbrush so I didn't do that.. So far the red are still closed but I guess I should give them time...
Oh, and Bronco300, do you perhaps have a good pic of your clowns hosting your Xenia? The picture I am using to try to entice my clowns doesn't show the clowns actually IN the xenia.... Thanks again!

If they don't open by tomorrow, use more iodine, not sure you used enough for it to work. A soft brush gets any algae film off them that may prevent them from opening, I would do it, just very lightly.

Thanks puffer!!
Also here is one more picture of my other zoos, I had tried yesterday but the picture didn't turn out, so I did it today.

Tried the iodine bath again and lightly brushes the red today but they still aren't opening.. I guess I will just have to buy some red again. Does anyone know if the red require more light or other care?

Just wanted to share some of my zoos under actinics... First, a closeup of some of my purplish zoos and second a close up of the new polyps on my green zoos.

You could frag the red zoas onto another piece of rock and place them somewhere. And check real close for anything could be irritating them such as sundial snails, small anemones.
