Xenia Colony ?????

I have a Xenia Colony and it has attached itself to a rock in my tank. Well the question is how do I move him off of the rock because a mushroom that I have has come loose and attached itself behind the Xenia practically right on top of it. So how should I move Xenia???????

xenia will be hard to move completely after on the rock...you can take a razor blade and cut its stalk, but whatever is left behind will grow again...i'd probably move the mushroom if i could...although that base will grow as well,lol....maybe if you can break the rock piece off?

The rock can not be broken off the are on top of each other. If I cut the stalk off how do I attach it somewhere else???

also very easy...you can either get a small rock...get some bridal mesh and cover the xenia between the two and hold the mesh down loosely with a rubbern band...or you can get a little container with rubble and toss him in and he'll attach...might have to cover the tub with mesh so it doesnt fly away

xenia will become very slimey when you cut it and mess with it

You might be able to use fishing line. Tie it lightly to the rock and place it in a low flow area until it secures itself. My xenias grow and attach very fast. I placed a piece of rock next to it about two weeks ago. I know have two big stalks on the new rock. There are more xenias on the new rock than the original.

How long will it take to re-attach? My Xenias have not spread at all in 4 months what gives???

Bury the base of the xenia in sand, kinda tricky, but it can be done...LOL...After the base has been buried for a day or so, it will adhere to the sand particles, then you can use a drop of superglue on the base of xenia and glue it to whatever substrate you like. Works 100% of the time.

If yours have not spread in 4 months. I would think they must be lacking something (water quality/light?). Mine grow VERY VERY fast. At the rate mine grow. I would think it would only take a day or two to reattach.

Geez Max, you come up with the best ideas!!
I would suggest just getting a small piece of rubble rock and the xenia will grow onto it.

This one I discovered totally by mistake. I was messing around with my frag tank and found some loose xenia, didn't have time to work with it and didn't want it floating around so I buried that it...LOL.. Then I forgot about it... Pulled it a few days later and figured, what the heck, give it a try and it worked...

Cut it off the rock with a razor. If you dont want it to return then take a

[hr]
driver and scrape off a piece of the rock with it.

You could cut and then zap with the JJ to finish off the rest.
