I've got a pulsing Xenia in my 92 gal tank. It has been doing great until two days ago when it started to pull itself in. It doesn't look good at all. About a week ago (maybe two) it split from one into three separate corals. Everything else in the tank (mushrooms, corals, feather dusters, fish) are doing fine. The water parameters are all excellent. Any ideas?

I have a pulsing xenia that recently split into three.
When it did it, 2 of them 'retracted' and one looked like it was all but dead for approximately 3 days.
Now all three are waving and pulsing again.
I dont know enough about them to give great advice, but from what I have seen a couple times now, its almost like they need time like that to recover from splitting.

I had a small peice in my tank for a while, and I had similar experience, but without the split. My water was near perfect, and after problems started I even put them as high up as I could so they'd get ample light.
Anyway, after about a week they looked ok, but the pulsing stopped.
2 weeks they were less pink, some of them remained retracted in the day, no pulsing.
3 weeks, nearly grey, no pulsing... blah
I had great water, reasonable lighting, etc... is this hard stuff to keep?

I have DEFINITELY learned that they do better with two things:
1) High current... I stuck one in so much current that the sucker was whipping around and he gained all color and length back in about 48 hours.
2) (THis is gonna sound crazy) They SEEM to like to be near eachother. When my 3 split I had also gotten another 2 stalks (for lack of better word) via mail. These two were NOT pulsing, and NOT opening up. I noticed that the other 3 were fine, so I put the 2 not so good ones next to the other 3. It wasnt long before they were all kicking and growing.
Ironically, the one time a Xenia stopped pulsing (yes, I posted about it here before)
I put some REEF SOLUTIONS in the tank for the first time and WALLA they were pulsing that SAME day. And NEVER looked back.. I got pics already on my friends digital Camera and am waiting for him to bring over the USB cable to put em up on my site.
