Xenia is taking over!

Does anyone know how to make the pulsing xenia STOP growing? It has taken over our 180 gal. tank and won't stop. We cut it about once a week and frag it (selling it to the LFS). While that helps to fund the tank, we're getting really tired of seeing so much of it!
Any suggestions????

I think I saw a post that said after you cut xenia you can put that paste( joes?) on the cut end and it will kill off that strand. Hopefully someone that has done this can be of more help.

Instead of cutting it try gripping it as low down as you can and it will all come away from the rock.
It feels as though you are squeezing the stem when you do it - works for me.

We've tried putting other corals around it, dropping small rocks on top of it, and cutting it off the rock and flipping the rock over so it can't get any light....but it keeps coming back!!!!

Hi Coral101,
Whereabout in Seattle are you. I'm just a little South but I work in Seattle almost every weekend. I would love a few frags of your xenia if you're willing to part with some. I don't have much to trade right now but hoping that will change someday soon :) Let me know.
wksiii@msn.com Thanks!
