xenia ok?

I went to a new LFS this weekend and decided to buy a few things. I bought some xenia, 2 types of recordia, and some green stripe mushrooms. Almost everything is doing good. The ricordia is all twice as big today, as it was in the store, the mushrooms are opening up, but the xenia is another story. I acclimated it all last night with the drip method for about 1 1/2 hours. When I put it in the tank, the xenia opened up and stayed open until I shut off the lights. I was really busy a work today so I didn't get to see the tank all day, but when I looked this afternoon, half of the xenia was opened half way and the other half looked "wilted" but was still moving. Is it dying, or does it do that when it is stressed? I have it in the middle of the tank under 2- 96 watt PCs, Should I move it closer to the light? Any help would be greatly appreciated:rolleyes:

It can take a while for them to adjust. Also, Xenia is a weired coral. Some tanks they thrive, others they don't.
I have had the best luck with them in a tank with no Protein skimmer and eleveted nitrates. Not high, just a little above normal.

wamp is right...xenia are wierd and have a mind of their own...its really to early to tell since you just introduced them...is it a waving hands xenia with a long truck and long arms??? if so I know that mine likes lower current otherwise it gets blown all over and its hands wont open...if its the short truck and arm xenia I don't know but either way give it some time...
I wouldn't move it unless all the hands are whiteish and refuse to open...give it some time...

Thank you very much for your responses. It (they) have open up this morning, even the "wrinkled" side. And the placement in the middle of the tank is ok? I mean, that is close enough to the lights? I feel like my hands are tied until I can get some more lights.

I just got a long arm xenia a little over a week ago. I have found that it closes up at the end of the day before I turn the lights off.
