i have been running xenia in tanks for nearly a year... and it basically, by itself, cleaned up a crashed, nasty tank... that had a fuge with macros... that wasnt putting a dent in the algae problem
xenia does outgrow many other corals... and as you prune it.. you are exporting NO3-PO4...thats the difference... nobody is pruning and throwing out hammers as far as i know
Yeah.... But Xenia uses much less CO2 than macros. There is no way the microscopic zooxanthellae uses nearly as much CO2 as macros. Otherwise all corals would help stabilize pH alot.
I assume the macros went sexual? What kind of macro was it?
Yes... exactly. Xenia is good at nutrient export. But do you really think it grows as fast as algae?
