xenia relocation

i have a xenia and something has ripped part of the base of it. Can i cut it the rest of the way off and try to attach it to a different rock or will it die.

are there any people in here that can give me another reason cause i want to do it tonight if at all possible

Not knowing the whole stuation, I would leave it.Mine has grown like weeds,and has even been killed back to little nubs after loosing power from the recent hurricane.It has come back in full force to it's original size.Good luck!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR IT TO GROW BACK BECAUSE MINE IS ALMOST LITTLE NUBS NOW BUT IT HAS GROWN A LITTLE SINSE I GOT HIM

Some pieces really surprised me.They looked like they had disappeared and in a few weeks they were coming back.Others,came back relativly quick.Have these been in your tank long?Mine were already established before they died back.I don't know how much this played in thier making a comeback.If you have a healthy system you should have some pretty good luck for some to come back.I'm no expert though,and things differ for each tank.Hopefully you will be ok!

i have a ton of Xenia in my 180 and it grows massive amounts in a short time. i can cut the stalks off and only leave a 1/4" attached to the rock which i then place the stalks with heads in my sump into a rubble box i use to propagate in and they attach in about 2 days. the nubs that are left from the cutting will grow back to full size in about 3 weeks. after a week they have tiny hands on them that are pulsing.
keep in mind that Xenia will not live or grow in some tanks and others it does great and even becomes a pest.
