I saw three maybe four passes that hit two hands. Those are the ones that are inexcusable to drop. Most of thePITTSburgs mistakes were the result of good plays by the GB defense.

Yea, Nelson had a pretty bad case of 'alligator arms.' Some were definitely inexcusable, but playing Pitt's D, it's understandable. I was pulling for Pitt, would have been cool to see Ben win his 3rd SB, hopefully stealing a bit of thunder from that guy in New England with the bad hair.

i looked at it this way.
in your face favre
That's kind of the way I saw it. I like both teams, but if there had to be a reason to cheer one way or the other.....you nailed it. And for the record, I like Favre too (one of the greatest players ever in the game). But enough with the back & forth BS. Owners decision to move on without him was like sending a spear up his rear end and showing that "no one person is indispensable".

By the way, did I not call this exact outcome two years ago when Favre started all this crap about leaving? Why yes, I believe I did........Where are those threads now? Where are all the T316 bashers saying that...."he still has 5 more yrs. in him....he's the greatest thing since cotten candy"? (Just a couple of the comments I recall).

I guess I don't really get all the hate towards Favre for the retirements. The man had to do what he had to do to get where he wanted to be.
He clearly stated that he wanted to be traded to the Vikings. Of course GB couldn't allow that so they traded him to the Jets. He had a phenomenal year as a jet until he hurt his bicep, still wanting to be a viking but the Jet's not wanting to let go of hima nd not able to trade him to the Vikings if they had wanted to because they were bound by words of not being able to play for an NFC north team in the Jet's contract. The only thing he could do was retire to get a shot at being a Viking like he wanted.
most people make light of the fact he had to "unretire" this year to come back to the Vikings. That is not so, he never retired between 2009 and 2010, he had surgery on his ankle that got wrecked in the NFCCG he wouldn't have been able to return for training camp or pre-season any earlier even if he had wanted to.
IMO he really only retired once and that was in Green Bay the first time. And I beleive that was because he felt he was being forced out even after he had a sensational season that year going 13-3 one of his very best as a packer.
His wishy washyness is a product more of what he wanted to do and wasn't going to be allowed than it was of him actually being indecisive in my opinion.
As much as I hate the packers I've always respected Favre as a player. He plays the game with true heart, the game would be alot more awesome if everyone played as hard as he did.
I don't agree with the whole cheating on his wife thing with the massage girls or the chearleaders or whatever, but that's life, how many people do every one of us know that has cheated on thier significant other? I'm possitive I could not count them all on my fingers. Sports figures get beaten up pretty badly for stuff that's just human nature.
Rogers is lucky, just like all superbowl QB's need to be. He barely even made the playoffs this year, we could be sitting here talking about one of 8 other teams (out of 16 in the NFC) that could have been holding that trophy. It could have been Favre last year, it could have been Favre as a packer in thier 13-3 season before his retirement or who knows, even as a jet if he didn't get injured (Look at what that team has done with a rookie QB)
Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't
If the refs had called that catch by Visanthe Shinecoe (I'm sure I butchered that spelling) a catch in the endzone in thier first meeting (the second most contiversial call of the season, first being calvin johnson being robbed against the bears) the Packers wouldnt have even been in the playoffs let alone the superbowl.

I never bashed you in the past but I will say that I still think he can play ball with the best of them given a proper O-line to protect him.
Brady, Manning or Brees would have certainly failed behind the line the vikings organization put on the field this year.
Is there anything in his game right now that makes you think that he can't throw the ball? He's got as much zip as he ever had
Is there anything in his game right now that makes you think he can't read a defense as good or better than ANY QB in the league? He points out repeatedly who's blitzing on nearly every failed play and yet the Vikings line (and largely the running backs) continued to fail at picking those blitzers up.
Honestly at this point, as much as I like what I've seen from Joe Webb he is raw and I'd rather have had Favre back for 2011. Would that make the 5 years you were talking about?

No, I'm not referring to his ability. I still think he is one of the greatest QB's out there. I was, and am, referring back to when he started toying with Green Bay. I honestly think that he believed himself to be indispensable, and irreplaceable. Finally when they moved on without him, it was like he had to prove to them that "they" messed up. I said then that this will be the start of his downfall. If he wanted to retire, then retire. If he wanted to play, quit holding out until two weeks before the season starts, be a team player and play. The rest is history, both on the field and off.
But honestly, I still enjoy watching him. I hope he comes back again and plays for somebody.

how would you feel if you just had a 13-3 season and went to the NFC championship game? I'd feel pretty indespensible too.
I'm sure Arron Rogers feels the same way, but in reality Matt Flynn looked pretty darn awesome when he filled in for Rogers (right up until the final 30 seconds).
All players are replaceable. If Rogers were in that situation this off-season after just winning the super bowl I'd think he would likely think he would have a mentality of "I'll show them, they made the wrong choice"
