XM 10k Vs XM 15K 150's best for me to use
I have current stock bulb 150w 14k and need replacement I was thinking of going with XM bulbs
Tank:
92gal.C. with 36" Current SunPod strip and I need new bulb
This is my current stock that the new bulbs will effect, but I am ready for more corals to add, I seem to like the soft corals, but want to add leathers. So what is my better bulb choice for growth and with out much wash out of color of my stock.
Coral:
Orange Ricordia
Blue Ricordia
Frogsporn
Blue Zoanthid Polyps
Animals:
1 Green carpet
2 rock (flower) Anenomes

XM 10ks are going to be yellowish white.....IMHO need heavy atinic supplementation the XM 15k has poor readings on PAR as well, but if your just after color can't go wrong with the 15k, but i'd opt for a different bulb manufacturer to get PAR plus good coloration.

The higher k the more blue the light will be, I used xm 15k's for quite a long time and was very satisfied with them. Its really just a choice. The more blue light you have the more the corals will florece. I currently run xm's 20k's but my bulbs are 250 hqi's so I don't know if those are available in the 150 watt range. Most folks go with a combo of 10k and say 15k or 20's. I personally like the more blue. Also blue light is supposed to penetrate to deeper water depths. I don't believe you'll have a problem going from 10k to 15k, I did that some time ago and had no problems.

I like a hint of blue.....I think?? I have never use lower than 14k so I don't know if I like the bright white look. I don't want yellow looking that is for sure!!
I want the higher par for growth though. with out washing out my colors to badly
XM state they have the highest par than any of the others....that is why I picked them??? What would be you recomendation then?

What brand of bulbs do you recommend??? I have all different corals in my system from softies, zoos and lps,sps with great growth. I personally like xm bulbs but I thought id ask which bulbs you think are better. None of us ever stop learning.

thanks for that pic can you add it to new thread, this is going to help me bunches!! I don't want to make a bad choice and be so upset on color. Bulbs of good qulity cost so much but so does the range in color and par.
So when I spend 80 bucks per bulb I want to make sure I am liking what I getting you know..

I run XM 250W 10k's on the right and left side of my tank with Phoenix 14k in the center and even when the XM's are on without the Phoenix they are not yellow at all, they are a very crisp white and some acintic supplimentation might help, IMO it is not needed.

I also use XM 10k 250s and they are also a crisp white color for me. I supplement the halides with 2x54w T5s which are the ATI Blue Plus bulbs

I'm posting this in response to your suggestion that XM bulbs are not very good. I found this and so I ask again are they good or not?
