please post pics of just your halides on.. im looking to see if i want to go with the 10K's .. i like a more blue color but i dont want it to be too blue looking to see all different K of XM bulbs from 10K all the way to 20K please list what size tey are and if they are HWI are mogul base please.. if you have to posat with supplement lighting please tell me what your running

Hey Psusocr1.....I'm running the 10k XM's 250 on Lumenarc III reflectors.....They are yellow and need to be supplemented, but growth is fantastic.......Sorry don't have any pics though.....sorry running URI 03s for supplemental lighting......

What are you currently running???

I am running a 20k 400w right now. I prefer the 10k with actinic supplements.

I run two 250 SE 10K XM's off IC ballasts. I love them and could not be more pleased with these bulbs. I personally wouldn't run them alone, but with my VHO actinics the aesthetics of the tank is perfect IMO. I am extremely pleased with the coloration in my corals, and my growth rates are unreal. I'll take a couple of pics tonight with my cheap camera.

right now im running ushio 10K with 2, 6 foot URI 03 actinics and its just WAY to white for me. i do love the crisp white snap the bulbs have,, no yellow at all, but i just cant get enough color from some of my corals..
i heard that the XM 10K are a slight bit more "blue" than the ushio's so iw as thniking of switching to the XM 10K's and also bumping my actinic 03's up to four , 6 foot bulbs
the problem is when the halides are on if you lift my hood you cant evan see my actinics glowing since the halides are sooooo bright and white it just drowns the actinics right out.. so its kind of a waste to evan have them on..
but i also want great growth, hence i dont want to move from the 10K's
any suggestions are awesome!

That's what I was referring to on the XM's even with 03 supplementation....You'd have to use a ton of 03's to get more blue......Hey Psusocr1 are the Ushios' whiter than the XM's you just saw?

you have NO CLUE how white the ushio's are!... these thing SCREAM white.. and i dont know if you understand what im saying when i say they are crisp and snappy.. but thats the only way to describe how white they really are! no yellow at all

Hey Hurt and Psusocr1 what type of reflector are you both running?? I think some of the coloration or intensity will vary some because of reflectors??? :notsure:

out of curiosity, what would happen if you mixed a 10k and a 20k, would that do anything, or be more worthless?

Acrylic, my reflector is a single unit that covers my whole canopy. I bought my lights as a retro from DIYReef. Definitely not as nice as your Lumenarc's, wanna trade...lol. Also, I have since painted the inside of the canopy white.

hey acrylic,
i actuallt covered the inside of myc anopy with aluminum type sheet metal so that everything reflects instead of using ndividual reflectors.. it works out awesome and im happy with it..

it looks horrible.. you can really tell the difference where one bulb stops and one bulb starts
