I agree with waiting on the hippo tang. Some people say xmas tree rocks are really hard to keep alive. I have one that is doing okay but I've only had it for 6 months. Also, remember to wait a year on the mandarin. :joy:

as far as the sand, a 5 to 10 gal bucket is not near enough. i put 100lbs of dead sand and 20 lbs of live in my 65g. it gave me a base of about 2.5 to 3 inches. the dragonet is a butiful fish. they also eat brine shrimp. but probably better to wait until the tank is more established.

Nooooooo! The dragonet MAY eat brine shrimp but 1) they normally don't take to the brine shrimp and slowly starve to death because they normally only eat pods and 2) brine shrimp really have little to no nutrition unless you set up a hatchery, hatch your own brine shrimp, and feed them when they first hatch.
Don't get that dragonet even a year from now unless you 1) know that you have enough pods and the ability to keep a big population of them (like a refugium or something) OR 2) you find one in a store that you see firsthand is eating other things and doing well! Don't take their word on it no matter how well trusted they are! Insist on them feeding it in front of you so you can see that it's eating the given food!
