Hello everyone!
Well, I took the plunge and emptied my change purse for a 120 gallon 48x24x25 double-overflow aquarium with cherry stand and hood. This thing is really sweet.
They also sold a 125 long but I wanted to go the deep route because I'm going to design the rock in such a way to get a canyon in the middle. I think I'll have this canyon go diagonally, starting from the inside of the left overflow and going in a 45 degree angle out to the right of the tank.
I know that because I'm choosing to make this a reef build, I'm limiting my options as far as fish go, but I want to go with tangs and wrasses... also there are a lot of more rare dwarf angels which you never see in the store, like the japanese swallowtail. This is the kind of tank I'll be building. Also, there's a store about 45 mins from where I live called New Alameda Aquatics, and they have all kinds of super rare and unusual ric's and zoa's. They sell a lot of their stuff online and I would recommend you google "New Alameda Aquatics" if you are into getting REALLY RARE zoa's.
I've posted some pic's below, and of course I wouldn't be a proper SWF member without putting a child in an empty tank right? She's a big baby... 26 pounds.
I still could use a lot of advice on this one... Because it's 24" deep, how much lighting will I need? I was thinking 2x250 HQI's with actinics.
Also, I'm going to put the biggest refugium possible under there.
I'm definitely going with an ASM G2 Protein Skimmer. With the Sedra 3500 w/ needle wheel and rated at 200 gallons, this thing is going to rock the house.
Not sure about how I'll do the sump... should I get one with the refugium in the middle? or set up the refugium on the side? Anyone have experience to share about this?
I'm definitely getting a UV sterilizer. For those of you who have mixed feelings about this, I'd love to hear your opinions! Please refer to my UV sterilizer thread, listed below, which has a lot of my reasoning already laid out.

Anyways i would say to get one, but dont have it running constantly. You can turn it on a week before you get a new fish till 2 weeks after having the fish. but to help save on other good stuff dont have it running all the time.
Also get a quarantine set up eventually. (whenever you have the money and time)
