make sure you get that fish in a quarentine tank ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT put any other fish with it and place a good carbon filter on the quarentine tank. use water from your tank to set up the qt this will stop the acclimation process.this fish is copper sensetive and cannot be treated with it.if the fish is eating feed him a few times a day a variety of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp,chopped squid.do not feed him brine shrimp it has very little nutritional value to sw fish and will not help your fish get better..make sure you ph is kept at good levels in the qt i keep my tanks at 8.3 at all times.you cant try hypo for him but dont go any lower than 1.015 this is also effective. but this must be lowered slowly.
add suppliments such as garlic I use garlic extreme directly the the water and soak foods in it before feeding .another very good prodect more important to use is selcon you can also add this directly to the tank water.these will help boost your fishes imune system to help clear up the paresite. boxfish release a deadly toxin when they are stressed or death accures.this is why it is imparative that this fish is placed alone at this time with carbons to help reduce the chance of killing himself.good luck i hope this help

Mine gets a little spot for a day then it goes away. I wounldn't panic yet, it will probaly clear up on it's own. If it is new it is probaly just from the stress of acclimating. Just keep an eye on it. Yes they can release a toxin if stressed or dies, but not as often as people think. I have had mine a week and already is my favorite fish by far. Very freindly and eats out of my hand. Hope this clears up for you soon.

please remember one week does not make him out of the woods yet.in this amount of time you have had him you have yet to experience the loss it can create.this is not a secies to take likely when it is stressed please remember ich is a stress induced paresite be cautious

I know he is not out of the woods yet. I see no signs of stress from this fish. Good water parms. He is eating great. Not getting picked on by other fish. Not all boxfish that die in a aquarium release toxin. I would say most do not gathered from the research on did on them. Yes I do not think they should be taken lightly, but no need to panic and stress the fish out more than it already is. It is a risk having one of these fish but one worth having IMO.

I understand your point completely but remember its not your fish health in question or showing posible symptoms of ich.its hers/his and should be careful none the less for not only the boxfishes health but all tank mates as well.

OK, the ich is gone. I did what was advised on a QT and used some rid ich, now he will not eat. I've verified my waters state, and everything is normal. This is the only fish in the aquarium now, but still seems uncomfortable. His size has decreased and will not blow up like he used to. Slight deterioration is noticable on fins. Will not eat silverside or enriched brine. I bought a medication made by GEL-TEK called Tetracycline. The fish will not respond to its attractive additives. :help: Anyone have any suggestions?

its a good sign the ich is apearing to be gone yes .not eating is a problem as for not puffing up like he used to is a good sign(puffers and boxfishes puff when stressed or feel endangered). brine realy isnt a very nutricous food for sw fish.what is your ph level? this should be a 8.3 range .(my spiney boxfish stresses with lower ph than this level).silver slides may be too big for him.I did some reading on him for you boxfish are omnivore they do require meaty and veggie foods(combination of both is a must.good foods for him would be type such as fomula one by ocean nutrition,cyclpopseze,.look for foods specialized for marine omnivores(veggie flakes ,reef flakes of pellets ect.i prefer pelleted foods along with frozen prepaired foods .if you look under food question on this furm you will find a list of specialized foods with higher quality of nutrional ingredients.i prefer thera+A by spectrum for all my fish.but they do have simular formulas.since hes not eating now i suggest adding selcon and garlic extreme directly the his tank water this will help boost him imune system and ensure he getting some important nutrients
