yellow coris wrasse

I was trying to experiment with something new and bought a yellow coris wrasse...well when I was introducing him in the tank he was spooked by my scopas tang...anyone know if these guys bury themselves...I checked all of the l/r but no signs of him anywhere...not for nothin' but I think he's gone!!!

Hi clowning around !
Congrates on your new addition.
When I first introduced mine (Digger :)) , he made a bee-line for the substrate where he stayed for the next three days! He then emerged and leisurely toured his new surroundings.
Digger retires every night around 8 o'clock, in the sand, not to be seen again 'til the a.m..
cheers...

well I hope I didn't damage the poor fellow...I was moving some l/r around last night trying to catch a shrimp...but I think it will be ok...

Yes they bury and it is best to leave them alone till they are ready to come out. I had one for years and it went to bed at 930 every night lights or no lights. They are about as bulletproof a fish as you will ever have. Mine survived 3 different complete wipe outs (in my early days) and never got sick ever. I finally gave it to a friend when I wanted to convert the tank it was in. These fish are also called Banana Wrasse and 4 spot wrasse and there is a great picture and stats on it in the SWF hobbiest section under Wrasses.

I've had a red coris wrasse for several months now........buries every night around 9 and comes out every morn around 6.......one of my favorite fish and extremely hardy.....mine is well advanced towards color change........
