i got one a few weeks ago. it is a great fish. the first few days it wouldn't eat, or come out from the liverock much. it looked for a place to build a burrow. make sure you have a dsb. even the little jawfishs will go way to the bottom of your sand bed. they are really beautiful and once they get adapted they swim around a little. mine made a burrow last night right at the front left corner of my tank. they are really interesting to watch make their homes.
i would highly recommend this fish.

I currently have one and I love it! They have so much personality and do play well with the other tank mates. They are reef safe and easy to care for. You just need to make sure you have enough sand/cc because they dig a whole that they stay in and they decorate the entryway with small shells and stones. They keep a seperate peice that is used as a doorway. When he doesnt want to be seen, you dont see him. No problems withh aggressive behavior unless someone comes a little to close(and I mean within a couple inches) he will chase them off not caring if they are bigger then him or not. He eats everything I offer! You will enjoy him I am sure.

I think you would enjoy him. I don't have one right now but I'm thinking about getting one. When I worked at the lfs I loved watching them build there little burrows. They have alot of personality. Like everyone said though make sure you have a pretty good dsb. (For those of you who are probably wondering why I'm getting another fish when I already have so many, don't worry two died when I had a slight ammonia spike. I was mad but ya know I guess that comes with the territory. Everything is running great now.)

well, my sand bed is about 3-3 1/2 inches deep. i was thinking that wasn't enough for this fish but i just can't go through taking all that rock again to add more sand. i just don't have the time at the moment. then i read on this site that it says it needs 2 inches. that really doesn't seem like enough to me..what do you think?

i appreciate the info. i knew that 2 inches wasn't enough..i don't know where they go that from. but i've noticed several things they have on this site that i don't agree with at all. unless they have just changed it in about the last 3 hours or so, when you go look up this fish, that's what it says. i may eventually add more sand...it's just such a pain to take all the rock out and i don't want to stress out the critters i already have anymore than i have to.
