Yellow Leather Toadstool! HELP

My yellow leather toadstool stem is "limp" for lack of a better word! Water params are good & using purple up....but I brought it home a week or so ago & its prolly 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches across but the stem seems to not be supporting it very well. It wasnt mounted so I used fish safe super glue & stuck it directly on a piece of rock & it has not been doing so well ever since

Any ideas on what I should do????

You should post your parameters and tank info. I know you said they're good, and it's a hassle to post everything, but it's still helpful.
What kind of flow is the leather in? Did you pay any attention to the lighting it was previously under or do any light acclimation?

it was under cf's now under ho t5's current is not very strong im kinda afraid to put it directly in current bc stem seems too weak!
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0
Calcium low but adding purple up daily

Give it more flow. It might look weak, but it is firmly attached to the rock it's on. Just make sure the rock is stable when you increase the flow.
Leathers need flow to capture particles of food and to shed debris and skin layers from their surface. I've had terrific growth with all kinds of leathers using variable, moderate flow. They get upset sometimes and shed now and then, so don't be surprised when this happens. With some good flow, he should look better in a few days.

I done some reading online re them & decided I prolly needed to place it in middle of tank more than on the bottom..when I placed it closer on a rock closer to top the stem instantly became harder..I'll keep u updated but maybe this fixed it!

flow is definately the key with leathers. I have a yellow toadstool also and it gets hit with some decently flow now and I have never seen better polyp extension. Stronger current helps remove that "waxy" coating that they get.

yea if it has black spots and is disintegrating i believe that sounds like necrosis. So what you can do is find areas that dont have black spots and frag them off. You want the pieces you cut off to not have any spots that look like the ones the base has otherwise it will just keep spreading on the new frags. Check out reef's vid on how to frag leathers if you haven't done it before. good luck! I tried to save a yellow fiji leather w/ necrosis but was unsuccesful but toadstools are much hardier.

Here are 3 pics as of today! Any suggestions? Int he last pic this is the stem its texture is kinda like a dry rotted sponge it just rubs off, the first 2 are just pics of how I have it sitting on a rock now!

hmm yea thats not lookin good. I'm not sure wht to tell you. You can always frag the rotting part off and try to save the rest but then that may not be the best option because of stress to an allready weakend coral.

Make sure those frags have good flow. In my experience, Sarcophyton elegans does not frag as well as other leathers and is prone to complications.
