I have two yellow cukes in my 40 gal/reef. They do a great job in keeping the sand sifted. And I can always tell where they have been by the sand (poop I call them
) pellets they leave behind.
The sand "swallowers" or "moppers" like I have actually injest sand, take what they want, mostly bacteria, and "poop" out the perfectly formed sand pellets behind them. Fascinating to watch, and viewed with a high powered hand held lens, quite strikingly beautiful.
