Yellow Sea Cucumber?

I am thinking of adding a filter feeding yellow cuc to my tank. I have researched and found no specific evidence that they are toxic if they die.
Does anyone have any experience with this cucumber? Good or Bad
Thanks

i believe that all cucumbers release toxins when stressed or when they die. Some can do both. Some are more harmful then others. I have not heard of a cucumber that doesn't release toxins in the water if stressed or dead, then again, I doubt I can name every type of cucumber!

Does anyone no if they can release toxins, how harmful can they be? I know that Sea Apples are common for this, but I have found no direct info to state that sea cucumbers have this problem.

Don’t worry, from my understanding, especially these small yellow ones, wouldn't do any harm. I've once had a regular black cucumber (about 4 inches long) die and he was dead in the water for four days in a 55 gal... (system has skimmer, filters, power heads etc..) Nothing happened to anything at all.

EBeckels....
In case you have not figured it out yet, many people on this BB have different experiences and opinions on topics. I added to the post to encourage more of this. It does not mean that I didn't read your post or appreciate your input. It simply means I wanted more input. You should know if you have been in this hobby for any time at all, that you don't go on the first thing you hear.

i understand what ur saying but this isn't an opinion type thread. It's a yes or no question. Do cucumbers release toxins? Answer: Yes. I wasn't mad... I just didn't think you looked at my response or something...That's why I said look above! :)

I've had the pink and yellow cuke die in my tank and no issues. These are very small cukes, and I would say overall the risk is low. There is some, yes, but there is a risk with a lot of things we keep.

Ive had a yellow atlantic cuke im my tank for around a year, but its a sandsifter not a filter feeder. Never had any problems with it, and it keeps the sand nice and clean
