Yellow stingray eating...

Im new to stingrays. I just got my first stingray a couple days ago from an online vendor. Hes a yellow stingray about 5in diameter. Im having some trouble getting him to eat or feediing him. Ive tried krill and chopped up shrimp. It seems he prefers the shrimp over the krill. When i feed him(ill drop it in front of him or hell take it out of the tongs) it appears that he is chewing on it and almost looks like he is using all of his energy to swallow it or to chew it. But he just cant get it down. After about 1 minute hell spit it out and swim away. Im using pretty small pieces of shrimp. 1 cm slices not chunks, so its not alot. And i tried the smaller pieces of krill. So far im pretty sure he has gotten one piece down. Do they make a gerbers baby stingry food?

Any one got any ideas? All coments are appreciated.

I've got and had several sting rays. You might want to try squid, my baby cali's really love it. The other thing is patience. I've had new sting rays take a couple of days to a couple of weeks to start eating. The other thing is do you have a nice soft sand bed for it and is there any fish in the tank that may be picking on the ray? HTH

Sounds like you just need to be patient and keep offering food. It sometimes takes a little while before they get comfortable enough to eat. Good luck

Too late, i guess my eel decided it might be a good idea to try and rip a hole in him so the ray is no longer with us.:nope:
