Yellow Tang 911

First off I'm sorry for posting this in two different places but I know beth is very busy and I truly want to help this fish. It sounds like it could be "black Ich" but I'm still not sure. If so would copper treatment that we are in the midst of with our fish help this tang? I've been looking all over the site for answers and can't find any.
Yellow Tang: There are black circles on him all ovr his body. Maybe ich but really not sure. I will tell you what it looks like. It looks like someone had oil (car) on there fingers and touched him cause it looks like finger print circles on him. Around his mouth is the worse it's also inside his mouth. All black not pitch black but black. Kinda like someone took a spray can and sprayed around his mouth from few inches away. Now i'm also not sure if it's his belly or something else. On each side of him is a little spot sunk in. That's about all for the tang. I don't have a tang so I don't know.. I would like to try and help them with him.
I really think the blenny is just stressed out.
If I can get a picture of the tang I will post it. Tang has been like this for atleast a week. They said they got both of them almost dead. No air in the bag VERY stressed. They have decided to stop ordering from were ever they are ordering.

I think that Black Ick looks more like pieces of pepper on your fish. I had suspected black ick on mine and that's what it looked like.

OOoo and as far as the hole on his side... don't worry too much about that. tangs need to eat all day... if they don't this happens but it don't mean that it sick. I have had mine for over a year and some days they look like that and some days they look fat.:notsure: but I know its not bad.

latino is probably referring to a Formalin bath. If you do a search for formalin bath I'm sure something will pop up. Good luck getting him out of the tank!!

Well here is a picture of the tang it is our Rescue mission to try and help. LFS doesn't know what else to do for him so nothing was being done. We we brought him home for foster care wait and see.

Are you sure that that is a yellow tang? Looks like a lemon-peel to me, especially with the blue eye. he doesn't look "round" enough for a yellow tang.

Definitely looks like a lemonpeel angel to me as well. Not that I know much of anything, but... I also don't see the scalpel on the caudal peduncle. 100% sure it's not a tang, but only about 95% sure it's a lemonpeel angel.

I agree with phipps, it looks like a chocolate tang to me. these fish are known to mimic lemonpeel angels as juveniles to avoid predation and then turn a brownish color as they reach adulthood. could it just be changing colors? I believe it's a choc tang or possibly a lemonpeel, I believe it is definately not a yellow tang.

OK you guys..............
I need pictures of a choc tang and a lemon peel angel.........
Is this fish sick or not....
For the last 5 hours i've been doing research.
I've found two things it could be.
Myxobacteriosis or Black Spot.
Does anyone know of these things?

The scalpel is there it's just hard to see in the picture.

The second picture you posted looks more like a tang than an angel. every lemonpeel angel I've seen is more elongate than tangs. but the blue ring around the eye shows it's definately not a yellow tang.
the lemonpeel angel is for sell on this site. it's scientific name is Centropyge Flavissima.
the chocolate tang is also called the mimic tang, and it's scientific name is Acanthurus Pyroferus. I don't believe it's on this site.
the 3rd pic you showed looked like it COULD be a lemonpeel, but the 2nd definately look like a tang (just not a yellow tang).
does the fish act sick? is it eating? how old is it? how long is it?

We went to a LFS today and they are new owners and do not know much about SWF. Anyway I said I would try and find out what is wrong with the yellow tang. The blenny I think is stressed. I don't know much but what I do I will explain to you.

To answer the couple questions.......
We just put him into our copper treatment today from the LFS. They didn't know what else to do with the fish so they are letting us try. Or it will just die. As for eating and water levels and all let's just say it was bad. When we brought him home today the water was veryyyyyyyyy cold. We didn't pay for him if he clears up and get's better then we will buy him. But we couldn't let him die. So were are trying copper thinking it was black ich.

how long is this fish?? you can safely bet that it is NOT a yellow tang.
go to yahoo and search the scientific names I gave you. I don't know exactly how mimic tangs turn from yellow to brown, but as juveniles, they look like lp angels, as adults they look like light brown tangs. it could be that it is transforming into an adult and is acting sick because of the bad conditions it's been in. I'm no expert, but you can bet it's probably one of the two fish, not a yellow tang.

He's sleeping right now so we don't want to turn lights and stuff on to find out. But I will find out tomorrow if you will check back. My husband has been looking at All tangs on a search and he thinks it's a Kole yellow eye tang. I will look up those names thanks.
I just asked my husband and he thinks he's about 4 inches long.
