Yellow tang swimming acting weird.(beth help if you can)
My yellow tang is 3 years old and I have never had this problem before. The front of his chest has been pinched in for about a week and a half and he is swimming funny. When he swims up he acts like he is top heavy and waddles as he swims upwards and a little when he swims straight. A friend of mine said he seems to have a parasite inside him and to get meds for him. I also called my lfs and they said its because he isnt being feed enough veggie sheets. I doubled up on the veggie sheets and he has been eating them and the pinch seems to be going away but not the weird swimming so much. He has been on the med now for two days but im not seeing a really big improvement yet. WHat does it sound like? has anyone had this happen with their tangs? The med is metro something im pretty sure and its an antibiotic . Let me know what you think.

My fish seems to be swimming a little better and his little pinch seems to be getting a little better. But I have been giving him food with the meds in it for a few days now.

Can you tell us the exact name of the medication? Can you post a picture of this fish?

I would add a good deal more variety to the diet, perhaps even some home made fresh foods. This fish will need at least twice a day feedings, with additional algae sheets for grazing.

I feed two times a day with sheets in the tank about once a week and he has always been plump and happy. Untill now of course. So now I am now feeding 4 times a day and with smaller amounts and im going to keep the sheets in the tank at all times. I went and bought some krill and some more blood worms to try to get my tang to eat (my two tangs never really liked blood worms but ate a little on them today) I also bought some new flakes that are called spectra max with kelp. So if I move up to 4 times a day instead of twice a day with veggie sheets in everyday, plus feeding brine shrimp, blood worms, krill, flakes, two different dry pellets and home made shrimp with freash garlic in. That should be good right?

You have two tangs in your 120? What species is the other? Any aggression? I ask because when fish consider another as competition, they can bully them away from food and leave the other starving and weak.

2-3 feedings a day should be fine, with daily offering of algae sheets. Uneaten algae sheets should be removed after a couple of hours. You don't need to feed all day, but do the sheets between meal 1 and meal 2. Try using zoecon on a meaty meal.
