my yellow tang seems to change color ever hour. goes from his normal yellow to a pale yellow and back. water is in parameters. he had black ich a few weeks ago then a damaged lip but has no visible signs other than the color switch. he is eating well. feeding him brine, keen food with alge and keo(i think thats the name of the food) and marine flake food with added vitamines. hes in a 125 gal with two damsels and a snowflake eel.

Yellow Tangs tend to go pale during the evening or when lights are dimmed. Could that be a possibility with yours. The only other reason why one would go pale is a parasite of sorts.

My Pacific Sailfin does the same thing... the first two black stripes stay jet black, and the rest fade every now and then. Its pretty normal :D :D

I used to have a yellow tang. But alas, before I got the tests I needed (the 70 gal. setup was given to me) the water clouded one day and I lost the tang and ylw tailed blue damsel.
Anyway, point to the story is... I noticed that after the lights would switch off at night he pailed a lot and I could see a brownish circle in the middle where all his organs were inside. When the lights were on though, he looked bright yellow and fine. WEIRD! <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />
