yellow tang eating habits

most fish will go after it if they see it, but they will soon notice it is not food and let it go. If you watch closely he/she probably hits it, then spits it out and lets it go realizing that it is not food.

my tang eats his own poo, but from what ive heard hes a pretty rare specimen as he has also eaten 1 cleaner shrimp, a few peppermint shrimp and a colony of zoas

I've read that tangs will nibble at coral if they get hungry enough (haven't experienced that one myself tho), so maybe it's just hungry? Or, maybe there's something that's lacking in it's diet that is being excreted in the chromis' detritus. If it's a younger fish, they need more meaty food than adults; adult tangs will live almost entirely off of algae. Just a thought...

maybe you all need to feed them more so they aint so hungry,. to eat strange things.my tangs do none of the above,well they may peck a turd but they dont eat it

thats what i was thining. how often and how much do you feed your tangs?
